Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor who was famous for her portrayal as the fiery lawyer Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. After her marriage she became Nikki Kodjoe. From the time she was a child, Nikki Kodjoe was a natural actor. In an Maryland contest for students in high school, she took home the award for the Best Actress. After working in theater as well as 'The Washington Ballet Company' she earned a diploma in acting at 'New York University. The first role she played in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brought an immense amount of respect. After that, she appeared in films such as "Boogie Nights Spark" as well as "Blue Streak". The TV series Soul Food' was immensely well-received. Her TV appearances include Second Time Around and Empire. Earlier in the career, she was in numerous stage productions. Parker with a strong passion for politics, is married with actor/model Boris Kodjoe. Two children were born to them.
The family was born in Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria until the age of seven, Contractor was well-informed about world travels and a variety of different cultures from a young age. She attended a boarding-school in London between 7 and 9 years. Then, the family relocated away from London to Toronto, Canada. Contractor studied classical ballet in Toronto. She also excelled academically. She studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, an arts school that focuses on theatre and dance. Contractor was 16 when she realized that acting would be her future career. She danced for almost 10 year. She received a full-scholarship grant to pursue a degree at the University of Toronto after graduating. There she earned her master's degree in theater and also double-majored in social and psychology. After a single semester at the University, Contractor went to an open audition for the play Pericles at the world-class and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and landed the lead role. She received rave reviews for her performances during the 92 performances that the play was voted the production of the year by Canadian reviewers in 2002. She was offered the opportunity to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory. It is a private institution that accepts just eight men as well as four female students for a crash course in classical theater. Contractor eagerly accepted. The actor's involvement in the upcoming play-season was confirmed and she got the part in Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
